It’s one of our favorite times of the year: graduation season! To celebrate the Class of 2022, Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo (CIS) has once again had yard signs printed with a big, beautiful photo of the graduates and delivered them to their homes. Here’s what they look like:
We’ve also been sharing pictures, stories, and congratulatory messages on the CIS Facebook page. We invited a few of this year’s graduates to reflect on what their futures might look like. Here’s what a few of them said in response to:
“Where do you see yourself in five years?”
“… I see myself finishing college and working at Consumers Credit Union.”
-Elizabeth
“… I see myself as a college graduate.”
-Jaquan
“… I see myself as a first-year teacher.”
– Vicky
“… I see myself working as a forensic expert in a government agency.”
-Kevin
Where do you see yourself in five years? What goals will you accomplish for yourself? What will you do over the next five years to make our community just a little bit better?
If you could go back in time and give yourself advice, what would you tell yourself? When we asked graduating seniors this question—“If you could go back and talk to yourself as a young KPS student, what advice would you give yourself?”—Elizabeth’s answer was, “Drama does not matter and school does.” What wisdom!

Thanks to their hard work and your support, these young people have been able to navigate challenges and stay on the path to graduating from Kalamazoo Public Schools. You can continue to join us and celebrate the hard work, dedication, and success of our students by going to the CIS Facebook page, here.
