In this season of booming chocolate sales and candy munching,* we can’t help but think about you, dear reader. As school and community partners, volunteers, and donors, you are helping CIS make sure that every student, regardless of race, gender, ability, zip code, or socioeconomic background has what they need to realize their full potential in school and beyond.
This vital work is ongoing and takes all of us working together to create a more equitable world for our children. It requires a collective response which means we must identify and dismantle the systematic and structural barriers and create systems that increase educational opportunities, enhance student outcomes, and nurture an environment where all students feel safe and connected. That’s a lot to accomplish. But we can do it. Together.
We love being on this journey with you. We know you love seeing kids succeed. We do too! And please know that our 12,000 + students appreciate you too. They see first-hand how being embraced by a community of support makes a positive impact on their academics and life. As one student put it, “CIS helps me be me.”
Thank you for joining with CIS by sharing your time, talents, and resources as we work together to empower kids to be the best students and people they can be!
*According to a recent report by Top Agency, candy consumption in America has risen 47.05% since last year. And while chocolate sales have also been rising, it’s estimated that the average consumer would be spending $32 less in 2022 compared to last year, and plunking down $167 to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
