Walk the red carpet in your ugliest sweater to support CIS of Kalamazoo.
It’s sweater season at Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo and we’re delighted to host our 9th Annual Ugly Sweater event. Each year we gather in our ugliest of sweaters to bring awareness to our whole child approach of supporting students. This approach includes providing essentials such as warm winter wear and supplies—just one of the dozens of ways that CIS supports kids in Kalamazoo.

You too can support this season’s event in a variety of ways. Here are some dates to add to your calendar:
- Now through 12/5 at 7:30 p.m. – Voting for the 2023 ugliest sweater is LIVE, check out all the sweaters in the competition by visiting our event page here.
- Silent auction opens on 11/22 and closes 12/4 at midnight – Check out the items here and place your bids. New items will be added during this window, so check often.
- Join us on December 5th at Bell’s Brewery, back room from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for this year’s annual ugly sweater party! Get your tickets today here.
This year, we are rolling out the red carpet for guests. Our take on a Hollywood theme, the tagline for 2023 is: The sweaters have stolen the show. Linnaea Thomas, CIS Board President, will be serving as the evening’s host with special musical entertainment from Yolonda Lavender and The Crew.
The sweaters up for the 2023 Ugliest Sweater Award were hand-crafted and designed by team members at Chase, Edwards Garment, Emerging Leaders for Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo, Humphrey Products, Kalamazoo Orthodontics, Kalsec, Inc., Old National Bank, PNC, and Unifab.
