Being Present Matters

The Power of Presence

There are many reasons that students don’t regularly attend school. Many students face challenges with safety, transportation, mental or physical health, access to clean clothes, food insecurity or have household responsibilities such as childcare or needing to work.

Our campaign, “Being Present Matters,” underscores the critical importance of attendance for student success. We are calling on everyone in our communities to show up for our kids, ensuring they have the support necessary to attend school and be ready to learn.

During the 2024-2025 school year, 99 percent of students enrolled in Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo programs remained in school through the end of the school year.

  • 94% of K-11 students were promoted to the next grade.
  • 97% of seniors graduated or received a GED.

Together, we can show up for more students.

Join the growing list of organizations who have pledged to be present this year by providing a gift, sponsoring a CIS event, volunteering, or helping generate awareness of our mission.

Thank you to the companies who have already pledged to be present for students this school year.
