OUR IMPACT
Our successes are shared endeavors. No single organization can meet all the needs of a child. Working together through a proven model, CIS works with the community to address the needs of the whole child. Together, we are helping thousands by removing barriers to educational achievement.
CIS is a critical component to success.
Independent research, funded by Atlantic Philanthropies, demonstrates that Communities In Schools, Inc., is one of a few organizations proven to keep kids in school and the only one to document that it increases graduation rates.
Using a school-based approach to promote students’ academic success by securing and coordinating supports that target academic and non-academic barriers to achievement, students are empowered to succeed.
“CIS has partnered closely with KPS over the last decade as we have increased test scores at all levels, high school Advanced Placement participation, and graduation rates, and have decreased dropout rates. KPS simply wouldn’t be the same school district, or community, without CIS, and children wouldn’t be as well served.”
– Dr. Michael F. Rice, Superintendent, Kalamazoo Public Schools
