Thank you for your support!
The 7th annual ugly sweater party brought together more than 100 guests in ugly sweaters to bring awareness to the whole child approach of supporting students here at Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo (CIS).
In addition to some amazing sweaters worn by guests, the sweaters in our Generosity is Always In Fashion exhibit were on full display and worn by their own team “model” to walk the runway and get some last minute votes. Bows, bells, tacky, over the top, pom poms, twinkle lights, and tinsel are just a few ways to describe the sweaters worn.

This year’s ugly sweater party at Bell’s Brewery was sponsored by Kalsec, Inc. Guests enjoyed light refreshments and smooth sounds from a local jazz band Fourth Feel (curated by Soul Artistry).

All the ugly was for a good cause: supporting the work of CIS and the students that we serve. With the support of local businesses and organizations, the ugly sweater exhibit and fundraiser raised just over $18,000!
Here are the top three winners: Kalsec, Inc. (1st), Humphrey Products (2nd), and the Emerging Leaders for CIS (3rd).

Thank you to our 2021 sponsors and supporters! We couldn’t do this without you. Thank you for supporting our mission of surrounding students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
If you haven’t had the chance to see the sweaters in person, they are back on display and located on W. Michigan Avenue in the Exchange Building right next to Huntington Bank.
Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo (CIS) Executive Director, James Devers
“The theme of our sweater display is Generosity Is Always in Fashion. As our community’s generosity in supporting kids’ success has never been limited to the holiday season, the impact of this holiday-themed campaign is also timeless – kids will be empowered to thrive today, tomorrow and for years to come.”

We would also like to give a big THANKS to this year’s sweater sponsors: Abraxas, Chase, Edwards Garment, Emerging Leaders for Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo, Humphrey Products, Kalsec, Inc., Miller-Davis Company, PNC Bank, Unifab Corporation, and Western Michigan University Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
Thank you to Combat Ready Art for donating the hand crafted trophy for this year, and Soul Artistry, LLC for curating the music for the evening.
